The Colts Boys Basketball Team put up a Dominant showing in their 60-37 win over the Purnell Swett Rams last Friday night.
The Colts had an outstanding game defensively, allowing fewer than 10 points in the entire second half, which definitely made it a night to remember for the seniors in their final home game.
The team did a great job spreading the ball around, making sure everyone got their shine. The team had 3 double digit scorers in Ja’keal Williams, Geronimo Sanchez and Josh Green.
Sophomore Guard Tres Daughtry also had an impressive 9 points for the team. When put into the game, he shot a quick three and drew some fouls which gave him 6 free throws.
“Driving to the paint and going up off 2 feet, what i usually do is pump fake and then go up, and against Purnell it was able to get me to the line,” said Daughtry when asked about getting to the line.
Tres will be a big part of the gameplan for their playoff game, they will be looking for him to be a glueguy coming off the bench.
“A lot of energy, loose balls, diving on the ground,.. Imma hype my boys up and get them ready so we can win this game.” said Daughtry when asked about his impact for the playoff game.
The team had a great game in all aspects with a defense that allowed less than 10 points a quarter and an offense that shot 62% from the field.
The Colt Seniors will be looking to leave a legacy at Cape Fear and are looking to make a playoff run this year; they know the stakes of a playoff game and think they are up to the challenge.
“It’s a win or go home situation. I’ve played in these games before and understand the atmosphere, so just keep my guys heads together and we should be good,” said Sanchez when asked about leading his team into their upcoming game against North Brunswick
Purnell Sweat was a big win for the Colts, and it secures their spot in the NCHSAA boys basketball playoffs, where they will travel to the coast to take on the North Brunswick Scorpions, where they will fight for a spot in the top 24.
The team just played what might be their best game of the year against the Rams, and there’s no better time to keep the streak going, because it’s win or go home.
