Cape Fear Golfer Bryson Barlow takes a swing!

Boys Golf has made a striking approach in the beginning of the 2026 season.

Coached by Todd Edge and Coach White, the team took part in their first conference match on Monday at Pinecrest Country Club in Lumberton.

After the dust settled on Monday, Cape Fear found itself seated second under Terry Sanford in the Tri-County Conference.

Cape Fear’s individual leaders from the match include: Ashton Leonard who shot an 80, Parker Hayes with an 82, Bryson Barlow with an 84, Layton Lewis with an 88, Raylan D’Amico with a 101, and Owen Driggers, who also shot 101.

As a whole, the Team finished with a total of 334 strokes, which was good for second place in the match.

“We did a really good job in our first match,” said Coach Chad White. “We’ve got a young team, but the young guys really performed well. I like where we are going, and I think it’s going to keep improving.”

White also teaches Math at Cape Fear. In addition to his coaching duties, he is also an excellent teacher. Coach White is loved by his athletes because of his positive attitude and encouraging spirit.

“Coach White is a very good coach,” said Owen Driggers, freshman on the Golf team. “He taught me how to love golf, even when I do bad.”

The team has made a great first impression at their first match, and will continue to excel throughout the rest of the season. Be sure to come out to watch these boys swing at their next match on March 9th at Baywood Golf Course.
