The Colts baseball team earned their first win of the new season Wednesday night with a comfortable 4–0 victory over the Jack Britt Buccaneers.

In their home opener against Jack Britt High School, the Colts delivered a dominant performance on both sides of the field. Strong pitching and aggressive baserunning helped secure the shutout win.

Junior outfielder Landon Underwood had an impressive game and played a major role in the victory. Underwood finished with a .500 batting average and stole three bases, consistently putting pressure on the Buccaneers’ defense.

“I was trying to put pressure on the defense, once they feel that pressure they start folding,” said Underwood. “They were looking for a way out and started leaving pitches right over the plate for us.”

The MVP of the game was freshman Jayden Brewington, who delivered a statement performance on the mound. Brewington allowed no hits while striking out 11 of the 15 batters he faced over five innings.

Behind the plate, Teagun Strahley helped keep the shutout intact with several crucial blocks that prevented the Buccaneers from scoring in key moments.

“Mainly I was just trying to keep them off guard. I kept throwing my curve that tails off about three to four inches,” said Brewington.

The Colts carried that momentum into the following day when they faced the West Johnston Wildcats, defeating them 11–3.

Logan Rayburn started on the mound for the Colts and pitched for more than half the game. Rayburn struck out five batters, walked three, and allowed only three hits. The outing marked a strong comeback for Rayburn after returning from minor injuries last season.

“Just stay confident, don’t buckle under pressure, and play your way,” said Rayburn.

The Colts also had a big night at the plate. Landon Underwood, Chris Serbio, and Tres Daughtry each recorded a double, while Jayden Brewington led the team in RBIs with four.

With strong pitching and timely hitting, the Colts secured back-to-back wins and built early momentum for the season.

The Colts will start conference play next week starting with a home game against Lumberton High School Tuesday Night.
