Last Thursday, Cape Fear Track competed in its 3rd meet of the season at conference meet #2 and had some of the best performances they have had all season.
The Colts started the meet strong by winning the boys 4×800 and having both jaxon hoover and nariah scott-mcleod finishing 3rd in the 100m dash. They continued the good momentum by winning both the girls and boys 4x200m.
As the meet continued in order, the distance group continued the momentum going in the 1600m, where James Riddle finished 2nd, followed closely by Collin Shick and Kayden Giles who placed 3rd and 4th. The Colts continued to run well in the 400m with Gabriel Page finishing 4th and Chosen Wynn placing 5th.
In the 800m, Randy Desjardin had a strong race and finished 2nd, while Gabriel Page finished 5th. The distance team had another strong performance in the 3200m, sweeping the top three spots with Kayden Giles taking 1st, Collin Shick finishing 2nd, and James Riddle placing 3rd, one of the strongest performances of the meet.
“I felt really good during the mile. I went against people better than me, which helped me push harder, and I had a good race,” said Kayden Giles. “I think I also executed the 2-mile well. I found the person I wanted to pace with, passed them with 2 laps to go, and was able to hold them off at the end.”

The field events also performed well with Zion George finishing 1st and Jacen Lunnermon finishing 4th in the high jump. Jacen Lunnermon and Christal Strange finished 3rd in the triple jump. Brandon Patton finished 1st place in the long jump. Daniel Wynn finished 4th in shotput and Erica Oxendine finished 4th in discus.
To close out the meet, the boys 4×400 relay team finished 1st, securing another win and ending the day on a strong note.
The girls team played a huge role in the overall success, placing in the top 5 throughout the meet. Nariah Scott-Mcleod opened with a strong 3rd place finish in the 100m, while Kiliah Lintz added a 3rd place finish in the 400m. In distance events, Keziah Chambers stood out by placing 3rd in the 800m and winning the 1600m, helping lead the girls team to one of their best performances of the season.
The girls also showed their strength in the relays, with the 4×200 team taking 1st place and playing a key role in building early momentum for the team. Their ability to consistently place near the top in multiple events helped Cape Fear stay competitive throughout the meet and showed major improvement and depth as the season continued.
