Cape Fear Girls Soccer is back! Sliding right back into conference action after concluding the non-conference portion of their schedule. These Lady Colts are ready for the task to defend their conference title.
On Monday, March 23rd the Lady Colts traveled to Lumberton for their first conference matchup of the season. The Lumberton vs Cape Fear rivalry in soccer has been one for the ages in both boys and girls soccer.
The Lady Colts had a tough non-conference schedule to start the season; this tough schedule however, would come in handy as the Lady Colts would destroy Lumberton 5-1.
This game was full of goals, including one from senior defender Kayleigh Jacobs. Kayleigh was in the goal box for a corner kick and had a great first touch to kick the ball under the keeper into the bottom left corner.
“I think if we play to our fullest potential, we have a high chance of defending our conference title,” said Jacobs.
Yesterday the Lady Colts hit the road again for the long drive out to Purnell Swett. The Lady Colts were looking to replicate their stellar performance against Lumberton early in the week against Purnell Swett.
The Lady Colts would play hard this game. Sophomore Ava Luchetta would find the back of the net after a strong strike with her left foot.
The Lady Colts’ defense was once again on top of things as they managed to keep Purnell Swett out of their goal. This is the Lady Colts’ 3rd clean sheet of the year.

“I think other teams know that we are a force to be reckoned with; we have struggled some with injuries but this has only just increased our team chemistry,” said head coach Bryan Pagan. “We are going to be ready for Friday night.”
Make sure to come out and support our Lady Colts for a big rivalry game which could prove to be a conference decider.
