Conference play is a wrap for volleyball in the Patriot Athletic Conference.
Gray’s Creek remains undefeated after winning regular season conference title along with the conference tournament title.
The Lady Colts fell to Terry Sanford Tuesday night in 3 sets, leaving them tied for 3rd place with South View. Senior Taylor Melvin was selected to the All Tournament Team. With the Colts 3rd place finish in the conference tournament, it only allowed for one spot on the All-Tournament Team. That selection is made by coaches.
The Lady Colts have had a bumpy road through the season complete with some ups and downs, but eyeing the playoffs with a positive attitude can put them in a very good spot. The Colts were named the 25 seed in the first round of the Eastern Regional tournament.
They drew Wilson Hunt in the first round. The match will be played at Hunt at 2:00 pm today. Hunt was seeded at 8, but what people may not see is a weaker conference behind their 16 wins, excluding the well known power house, Franklinton. Hunt began the season 1-5, losing 5 of their first 6 non-conference contests.
The Lady Colts can definitely pull this one through and make a run, they certainly have the talent and ability, but just like it has been all season, it all depends on what team shows up.
