Last Wednesday, the Colts ran at Jack Britt Highschool. Although they only had 4 runners, racing against South View and Jack Britt, the Colts finished in second place.

As expected, Iris Terwilliger dominated the race with a time of 22:47, she came in more than an entire minute before her compitition! “Although my time was not where I wanted it to be, I am proud of my 1st place and am excited to see where this season will take me.”

Another colt finishing in the top ten was Natalie Autry, finishing right behind Iris in sixth place. With a time of 25:33, she helped the girls team beat South View by 19 points. “This was our very first race at Jack Britt and I think it went pretty well. I started off pretty strong trying to keep up with Iris and kept 2nd place for a little but I began to fall off some and ended up in 6th. I was a little upset with myself but I know this was only the girl’s second race for this season and I have a good amount of time to push myself to be better when it comes time for the conference championship.”

Although the team placed well, rules are that a school needs at least five people to run to earn a team score. Since Cape Fear only had four runners who were eligible Wednesday, they were not able to score unfortunately.

Come and see the Colts protect their territory as they run week on Wednesday September 22, home at Cape Fear Highschool. Then again on Saturday, September 25 as the colts run their first invitational race of the season at Hagan Stone State Park in Greensboro!
