On Monday September 20, the JV Soccer team took home their first victory of the season against Jack Britt High School. The Colts left the match with a score of 2-1, leaving the Buccaneers in the dust.

The Buccaneers wasted no time scoring on freshman goalie Tyler Evanson within the first 10 minutes of the match. The ball slipped past Evanson and rolled straight into the left side of the goal.

After some defensive substitutions and an encouraging talk from Coach Pagan, the Colts righted the ship… and sunk the Buccaneers.

The Colts offense pitched in and scored a goal in the last 5 minutes of the first half. The first goal was scored by Connor Dickinson, coming off a corner kick by Gavin Gamble. Dickinson made an amazing header and tied the score 1-1 heading into the second half.

“It was going to be difficult to score again, said Aiden Chestnut. “The refs were calling a tight game and a bunch of fouls were called on our team.” Aiden Chestnutt says about the second half.

The Colts had no need to worry, though, as they started to run circles around the Buccaneers. The athletic Colts started to wear down the Bucs defense. Dickinson took advantage and scored another goal off an assist by Jaxon Davis, the Colts left the Buccaneers territory with a victory.

Altogether the Colts did an outstanding job on Monday, showing amazing teamwork and communication to lead them to victory. This is the first of many successes for the Colts. Come back next week to see what happens as our Colts take on Terry Sanford in Bulldog Territory!
