On Saturday, Sep 25, 2021Cape Fear ran at the 37th annual Greensboro Cross Country Invitational. With over 70 different schools involved, there was plenty of tough competition. But even with the large number of competitors, Cape Fear still dominated in the developmental race.
Cape Fear Men’s team placed fourth overall, with an average split of 19:08. Max Risemay ran a time of 18:06, placing fourth and earning an individual trophy.
”I saw a shadow coming up from behind me at the finish and thought, no way am I getting passed now. I didn’t get passed by the way,” said Risemay.
Unfortunately, one Cape Fear was injured during the race, which had a major effect on his time. Even after being kicked in the back of the knee, he still managed to finish the race, placing in spot 133.

Leading the Girls’ team to a 9th place team finish with a team split of 25:54 was Iris Terwilliger. She finished in 11th place with a time of 22:08.
Even after traveling two hours on a bus from Fayetteville to Greensboro, at 5:00 in the morning, the Colts still managed to rise above the competition and perform at a high level. This team seems to get better every week..
Come out to South View on Wednesday, September 29th, when the Colts run again against the defending conference champions, the South View Tigers.
