This past Saturday, Cape Fear traveled to Raleigh and absolutely dominated their competition at The Dorothea Dix Invitational.
In the last Dorothea Dix Invitational, Cape Fear placed first in both the men and womens’ race. By winning this race by a huge margin, the Colts brought home two trophies and many medals. This season, Cape Fear hasn´t disappointed in living up to their record from last year. The Colts earned the same titles, bringing home two trophies and six medals!
The Men’s team ran some of their best times this year. They won the first place team trophy with 4 runners medaling individually. Caleb Kneudsen, Collin Gaddy, Max Risenmay and Maddox Terwilliger all finished in the top ten, scoring low for the team.
Caleb Kneudsen ran a time of 18:21, placing 2nd individually. “Dorothea Dix was a race we have run before in the past. We came into this meet with great anticipation, and that anticipation was met with many medals and Cape Fear coming out on top,” said Knudsen after the race.
The women’s team also ran several personal records. Winning the second place team trophy, Iris Terwilleger placed in the top 10, along with Natalie Autry finishing in 12th.
Iris Terwilliger ran an amazing time of 22:05, placing 5th against some of the best runners in the region. Terwilliger fought through adversity, running most of the race surrounded by opposing teams and managed to run a great race.
”The course was hilly, but my teammates cheered me on and kept me going,” said an elated Terwilliger.
