This past Wednesday at South View High School, the Colts ran in the United 8 Conference Championship meet. Cape Fear ran against Jack Britt, South View, Seventy-First, Purnell Swett, Lumberton, Grays Creek, and Douglas Bird. Cape Fear ran an amazing race as a team, edging out most of their competitors, but they just fell short of victory. 

The boys team, consisting of Caleb Knudsen, Collin Gaddy, Max Risenmay, Maddox Terwilliger, Alden Bostic, and Noah Magness placed second as a team, with four runners medaling and earning All-Conference honors. Terwilliger placed 3rd overall  with a time of 17:39, leading the Colts to their 2nd place finish. 

The girls team consisted of Iris Terwilliger, Natalie Autry, Corrine McGuire, Katie Martin, Brinlee Risenmay, Lakin Clevidence, and Gabby Dsouza. The ladies placed third as a team, with two medals and All-Conference placers. Terwilliger placed 2nd overall with a time of 21:31, leading the Colts to a close battle for third place.

“It was a good finish to a great season, I just can’t believe my last regular season meet is over.¨ said Risenmay.

Since the Colts ran some of their best times and placed well among their competition, both mens and womens teams qualified for regionals. Regionals consists of the best runners in the 3A East region of North Carolina.

Come out to Pittsboro, North Carolina this Saturday, October 30th and cheer on your Colts as they compete against some of the best runners in the region. Watch as they try to keep their season going and qualify for the state meet, where they could run against the fastest runners in North Carolina!
