The girls varsity basketball team is hard at work this season. With an overall record of 6-6, the Colts are striving to earn a playoff spot this year. After a tough loss to Purnell Sweat earlier this season, the Lady Colts are trying to bounce back to beat the Rams this week.

“We competed really well; they’re a 12-0 team, but the girls played hard,” said head coach Brian Graham after last week’s loss.

The Lady Colts fought persistently against the Rams resulting in a 62-52 game. The girl’s stayed within striking distance for most of the game, even though they came up short at the end.

“I felt as though there was a lot of aggression that was not reciprocated on our end that we could have dealt with better,” said Junior Power Forward Samara Britt. “I think that we need to start our first half how we start our second half. We always go hard in the second half and when we are down, we tend to rush. We need to stay strong and go out there with a lot of energy and intensity. Buckets after buckets and match the opposing team’s energy.”
