The Cape Fear Boy’s Basketball team notched another impressive win this past Tuesday night. The Colts took on Douglas Byrd and posted another impressive win, grounding the Eagles 65-24.

The Colts have been on top of their game recently, and this win makes it their 5th win in a row. They looked unstoppable last night, scoring with ease and shutting down the Eagles defensively from the start, coasting to a solid win. Sophomore Forward Jeremiah Melvin contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and an impressive 4 blocks.

“Our intensity has improved. We started listening to Coach and working harder at practice and in games,” said Melvin after the game. “We have started doing what we need to do to be successful. Defensively, stepping up the intensity was the answer. Our defense is what has kept us on this win streak.”

The Colt defense continued to impress Tuesday night, smothering the Eagles and limiting their scoring opportunities for the entire duration of the game. Melvin’s four blocks set the tone for Cape Fear, making it obvious that they came in to the game ready to play, not overlooking Douglas Byrd.

The team has looked good recently. They seem to have found their footing after a rough start to the season. Cape Fear is now 6-2 in the United 8 Conference and 9-6 overall. They are currently in third place in the conference and looking to move up by adding to their five game streak.

“We just need to keep doing what we are doing- the little things,” said Melvin. “We have to trust each other on the court and keep giving everything we’ve got every day, not just in games. We need to be all in at practice, all in with our teammates, and the wins will keep coming.”
