On Wednesday, September 7th the Lady Colts defended their Home Territory against the Pine Forest Trojans. They won quickly in straight sets, making them 2-0 against the Trojans on the season. The Colts are now 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the United 8 Conference. 

Cape Fear took the first set 25-20, with Olivia Melvin leading the way with 8 kills in the first set. Melvin finished with 14 overall.

“I feel as if I did pretty well but next time I will improve and do even better.” said Melvin after the match. 

The two block leaders were Lilly Rayburn and Tabitha Newlin with five each. 

The second set went smoother, ending with a score of 25-17. Larkin Baxley led in serve receptions and digs, helping the Colts keep the ball in the air. 

“I feel like I had a good game and I’m excited to see how we do later in the season!” said Baxley when asked her thoughts on the game.

Cape Fear had an excellent serving game. The Colts only missed 3 serves the entire game, followed that with 11 aces. They managed to play a game with little errors and ultimately came out on top. 

“The team is really coming together,” said Coach Kelly Melvin, “It’s still only the beginning and I’m very excited to see how far we will make it this season.”

Overall the Colts put in a solid performance for the match. Be sure to come out and support your Lady Colts as they take on the Jack Britt Buccaneers at 6 pm on Tuesday, September 13th.
