The Cape Fear Varsity Soccer team has been on roll, beating Jack Britt this past Monday earning their fourth win in a row. Cape Fear rolled over the Buccaneers as they finished with 7 goals total, with a final score of 7-3 in favor of the Colts.

The Colts scored 6 goals in the first half of the match. Junior Maxwell Risenmay notched himself a hat trick, scoring three goals in the match. Risenmay was also named player of the game.

Junior Julius Mclemore also had a great game, scoring two of the 7 goals. The other two goals were scored by Sophomore Bryan Martinez and Sophomore Conner Dickinson.

Britt managed to find the net once in the first half and twice in the second half during the final 8 minutes of the match, but by that time, things were out of reach in favor of the Colts. Cape Fear added one more goal in the second half to seal the win.

“It feels pretty good,” said Risenmay after being asked how it felt scoring three goals. “We’ve gotten better at passing the ball around, we have been practicing for a while. So we just did what coach was telling us the whole time and we actually pulled it together,”.

After a tough start to the season, the Colts have figured out their weaknesses and started playing together and as a team. These back to back wins are giving the boys the confidence needed to finish their season strong.

This win marks the sixth win for the Colts so far this season, and their third conference win. Cape Fear is moving up and is now fourth overall in the United Eight Conference. The Colts overall record for the season is 6-5-1.

The fourth win in a row for Cape Fear marks a big turnaround on the season. The team seems to be playing with an enthusiasm that was not there before.
