On Wednesday September 28th, the Colts took the field in hopes to win their seventh game in a row, but they came up just short, losing 5-2 to the Lumberton Pirates. This was their first loss since September 9th. The Colts lost to a tough Pirate team, who are 7-0 in the conference and have only lost 2 games this season. The game was held at Cape Fear High School.

Going into the match, the Colts knew that Lumberton would be a tough game. Last time the Colts played Lumberton, the final score was 5-0. The Colts had 2 goals against the Pirates, both by Junior Max Risenmy. He scored one goal in each half.

“We played well in the first half. We made some good opportunities in the second half,” said Max Risenmay.

Unfortunately the Colts were unable to capitalize on those opportunities. Despite the loss, the Colts had their chances and showed tremendous improvement against the United 8 Conference leaders.

On Monday October 3rd, the Colts took home a win against the Purnell Swett Rams at Purnell Swett. The Colts demolished the Rams 5-0. This is the Colts ninth win of the season, making them 9-6-1 overall. This is a big win after their tough loss against the Lumberton Pirates. The Colts have won 7 out of their last 8 games.

In the game, two of the goals were scored in the first half and three were scored in the second half. The following players scored a goal: Junior Conner Boudreaux, Junior Andrew Sneed, Junior Julis McLemore, Senior Jesus Rodriguez, and Junior Jeron Lessiter. This game was an excellent display of teamwork and good communication.

With five games left in the regular season, the Colts have a good chance of winning out and making it to the playoffs.

“One-Hundred percent we will make the playoffs. That’s not a question,” said Coach Bryan Pagan emphatically.

The next few weeks, the Colts will be practicing very hard for their upcoming games, in preparation for the playoffs. We know the Colts will do amazing with continued practice and good communication. The playoffs are just around the corner and will be coming soon. The next game will be against the Seventy-First Falcons at Seventy-First High School.
