All rise for the Homecoming Court of 2022! This year there are plenty of great people to vote for. Each one of them has a unique background and features that make them the people they are today. The question is ‘who did you vote for?’ Let’s get to know a little more about who you have voted for. Each member of the Court was also asked the question how they believe they represent Cape Fear.

Kerrigan Brown

Kerrigan is the Vice President of the FFA club and also is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is a part of many sports teams here at Cape Fear and those involve varsity soccer, track, and the cheer team. Kerrigan also excels in many pageants and is our Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen. 

She has earned many scholarship opportunities from West Virginia, Alabama, Hollands, Troy, North Dakota State, and Rowan through her pageant career. For the fall semester in college she has plans to attend a full four year university and major in broadcasting and communications.

Kerrigan stated, “I think I represent Cape Fear by having a positive attitude, being full of Colt pride, and going to as many school events as possible.”

Reece Eason

Reece is a very active student here at Cape Fear. She is involved in many clubs including Beta Club, the Mentor Program for freshman, Student Government, Revolution Youth Group, journalism, and the Academy of Scholars. 

She has been a part of the Cape Fear cheerleading team all four years of her high school life here. Reece is now cheer captain for the team this year and shows her great leadership throughout the football season. Reece wants to attend North Carolina State University to work her way towards a degree in Audiology.

Reece expressed, “I try my best to be a part of everything that goes on at Cape Fear and be involved.” 

Maddie Raymes

Maddie is a part of the SGA, Beta Club, journalism, and she is a Freshman Lead Mentor. She takes her part in each of those clubs very seriously and shines in each one. 

Maddie has been on the cheerleading team for Cape Fear since her freshman year. She has very high aspirations to attend the University of Alabama next fall semester to study Criminology and Criminal Justice.

“I am on the cheer team and I am a good person,” Raymes said when asked how she represents Cape Fear.

Samara Britt

Samara is a member of the Deca club. She is also on the varsity girls basketball team and soccer her sophomore and junior years. She has also cheered in the past for Cape Fear.

Samara has an offer from Johnson and Wales University and William Peace because of her great talent on the basketball team. There are also four other colleges that she is interested in looking into. She wishes to pursue a degree in sports management or the medical field.

Ashia Tatem

Ashia has outstanding skill in technology and research. She puts them to use as a prominent Media Assistant at Cape Fear. 

She is an outstanding member of the Deca and our Book Club. For her first fall semester in college she has plans to attend North Carolina A&T where she will major in Physical Therapy specializing in Pediatrics.

Cameron Hales

Cameron is involved in the Beta Club and Freshman Mentor Program. She is the senior class secretary for SGA and the chapter historian for FFA. 

Cameron has been on the Cheer team for both football and basketball for her four years at Cape Fear. She is also our reigning Miss Cape Fear High School. She wants to attend East Carolina or Appalachian State University and is considering a major in Criminal Justice.

“I show my school pride by cheering on the Colt football and basketball teams. I also represent my school as Miss Cape Fear. I make appearances in my school crown and sash and let others at community events know how good it is to be a Cape Fear Colt,” said Hales

Aniah Lobban

Aniah is a part of the DECA club, the Natural Science Academy, and she is a freshman mentor. Her future plans are to attend University of NC Charlotte where she will major in Kinesiology.

Jakia Gary

Jakia was a member of the varsity cheer team during her junior year. She wants to attend University of North Carolina Charlotte where she will study management information systems.

Keidra Jones

Keidra has many college options for where she wants to go. She plans to attend North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, or Winston-Salem where she will pursue a degree in nursing.

“I socialize with everybody, I am friendly, and I try to participate in all activities,” is the answer that she provided on how she represents Cape Fear.

Kaleigh Barber

Kaleigh is the secretary for the Cape Fear Poets Society and she is also a member of the Deca club. She also was on the cheerleading team during her sophomore year. Kaleigh has plans to attend Western Carolina University where she will major in sociology. 

When asked how she represents Cape Fear she answered, “I help show new kids around the school, influence the clubs. Also I come and learn and stay positive.”

Cole Wilson

Cole is a part of Student Government and is a Freshman Mentor. He has excelled in football ever since his freshman year. His plans are to attend East Carolina University where he will study for a degree in Business. 

Mitchell Evans

Mitchell is a prominent member in Campus life, SGA, and the Freshman Mentor Program. He has taken on leadership by leading an online ministry called “Youth Speaks Out.” Mitchell has played football for three years and his plans are to attend FTCC to study in nursing or dentistry. 

“I feel like I represent Cape Fear by having Colt pride and being a positive student inside and outside the classroom,” said Evans

Devonte Hill

Devonte is a part of the Natural Science Academy and Beta Club. He makes sure that he is a very active member in both of those groups to make Cape Fear a better school.

He has been on the football and track & field teams since he came in as a freshman. Devonte even is a state champion for track and field. After he graduates from high school he plans to attend UNC Chapel Hill where he wants to major in chemistry. 

“I feel good, I love the school, and the environment. I am really close to a lot of people here and the fact I can represent this school means a lot and I hope I made it a better place and leave it better than when I found it,” stated Devonte.

Tyler Buckly

Tyler is heavily involved in a few things here at Cape Fear. These involve SGA, Beta Club, Leadership Council of Football, and is a Freshman Mentor. 

He has been on the football team since his first year of high school and was once a member of the swim team. His plans are to attend North Carolina State University where he will major in civil engineering.

Charles McNeil

Charles is a member of Cape Fear’s Deca club and has advanced skills in photography that he loves to show by taking great pictures of our students and our athletes. Charles has big plans to attend North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where he will major in business.

“I represent Cape Fear by showing Colt pride everyday, always having a positive attitude, always supporting the games, and providing the best flicks of the century,” said McNeill.

Gray Murphy

Gray is the senior class Student Government president and shows a great example for the school. He is a member of the FFA, Natural Science Academy, Beta Club, and the Academy of Scholars. Gray also is an athlete on the lacrosse team where he shows his skill. He plans to go to North Carolina State University and major in Crop and Soil Science.

“I am senior class president and I feel that what I do through SGA and the community service I take part in leaves a positive impact on the school,” said Gray when he was presented with the question of how he represents Cape Fear.

Nick Shook

Nick is one of the Lead Mentors and a great member of the beta club. He also is a part of the Academy of Scholars. 

He is the captain of the varsity soccer team and the varsity swim team. In previous years, he was a player on the varsity tennis team. Nick has been a member of the Canes Hockey Team for 15 years. His plans are to attend a four year university where he will study biology.

“I feel like I represent Cape Fear in a good way by being a leader and a friend to anyone,” said Nick.

Anthony Mclaurin

Anthony is a part of the Deca club and was an athlete on the JV basketball team in his freshman year. He has plans to attend North Carolina A&T to study Business Administration and Marketing. 

Anthony stated, “Everywhere I go I have a positive attitude and no negativity. I inspire others and make them smile.” 

Nasir Carroway

Nasir is an acolyte at Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church. He plans to attend East Carolina University where he will study business and management.

When asked how he represents Cape Fear he answered,“I am a freshman mentor where I lead and guide freshmen in the right direction.”

Elijah Walker

Elijah is a very prominent student here at Cape Fear and plans to attend Fayetteville Technical Community College where he will pursue his passion for music producing as he obtains his degree in digital media.

“I represent Cape Fear by doing my best in classes, participating in spirit week, and attending school events,” he stated.

Congratulations to a group of very deserving seniors! Join us Friday night as we crown our King and Queen before the game! Oh yeah, we almost forgot! There’s also a really big football game against the Jack Britt Buccaneers at 7:30. Get there early! The stable will be packed!!
