The Cape Fear Men’s Soccer team has had a busy few weeks, taking on the Southview Tigers and Grays Creek Bears over the span of a week. Last Monday Colts took on the Tigers at Cape Fear for their Senior night. The Colts got the conference win in dominant fashion with the final score of 3-0. The Colts left the Tigers scoreless in the win. This was the Colts fourteenth win of the season and their tenth conference win.The Colts have won ten of their last 12 matches.
Overall the Cape Fear Colts are 14-5-1 for the season. This has been an awesome season for this year’s team. The team focused on playing tough competition in the non-conference schedule, which prepared them for U8 Conference play. Things gelled for the Colts, as they started working together and figuring things out as a team. This led to a six game winning streak during the middle of the conference schedule. Their only two conference losses are to Lumberton.This win put them on another five game winning streak.
The Colts scored three goals during the game on Monday. Two goals came from senior Conner Fisher and the other was scored by Junior Julius McLemore.
Before the match, the team honored the senior Colt players. The following players are seniors: Conner Fisher, Hunter Rockwell, Nick Shook, Jesus Rodriguez, and Nolan Jacobs. These Seniors are finishing off their high school soccer career in a great way.
Last night, the Colts played the Grays Creek Bears at Grays Creek High School. The Colts took home another win, besting the Bears 2-1. Freshman Zack Beal and Junior Julius McLemore each scored a goal to push the Colts through for the win. Zack Beal was named player of the game. This is a big win for the Colts, considering they have now ended the regular season with a six game winning streak. This put the Colts at 11-2-1 and good for second place in the United 8 and 14-6-1 overall.
The Colts have had their struggles early, but they are finishing out strong with a string of victories. The Colts are ready for the playoffs, and they are confident that they will make a run.
