On Friday, October 14th, the Marching Colts showed their school spirit at a pep rally for all of the Cape Fear students and staff.
They played stand favorites from football games and performed their show, titled “Little Red Riding Hood” fully finished, leading to the homecoming game where our Colts took on Jack Britt High School. This was a perfect warm up run for the Marching Colts heading into their competition the next day.
“It was definitely a good practice, I mean a run is a run; it’s gonna give us feedback, and it’s going to help us improve for what we will work on so definitely.” said Drum Major Hannah Yergeau.
The Marching Colts have not only improved and added to their show, but they have also improved in many different sections and individual perspectives since the Colts last performance at Southview.
“I think everything improved from Southview, especially since we were able to finally get the whole show on the field for the competition. I think that really boosted our scores and everything and made everything sound and look a lot better.” said Trumpet Section Leader, Mason Autry.
The Marching Colts, competing in the 3A classification, brought home 1st place trophies in the following categories: Music, Visual, General Effect, Percussion, Visual Ensemble/Color Guard, as well as placing first in 3A and 3rd overall.
Keeping the beat steady and getting their game faces on, the Marching Colts also cheered on our Football team Friday at Southview High School. This led into a competition at Union Pines High School.
