The Cape Fear High School Girls Basketball team played Purnell Swett on December 5th in a crucial game. The Lady Colts trailed behind by 11 points until the 4th quarter and came up one point short of the Rams with less than a minute left in the game. 

Junior point guard, Jayda Angel had 25 points with 7 3s rallying back to take the lead by one in the 4th quarter. She finished the game scoring 41 points. Purnell Swett hit a midrange 2 pointer to take the win over the Lady Colts 66 to 65. Angel had the help of senior Samara Britt putting up 7 points and grabbing every rebound she could. 

Angel is shooting 65% averaging 31.3 ppg with 6 assists a game. She shot 67% against the Lady Rams. Junior, Kayia Starling also had some 3s to help the Lady Colts come back after being down in every quarter. They took the lead with 2 minutes left on the clock in the 4th quarter. 

The Lady Colts are 1-2 on the season with their next game being against Fairmont on December 7th. 

Jayda Angel has multiple D1 offers showing her ability to score from anywhere on the court and make tough shots in tough scoring games. The Lady Colts had a total of 29 points with Jayda having 25, shooting 50 % from 3 pointers. The girls outscored the Rams by 10 in the 4th quarter. 

Angel was player of the game, averaging her season high. The Colts defeated the Terry Sanford Bulldogs 58 to 49. During that game Angel had 23 points, Kayia Starling had 16, and Samara Britt had 11 rebounds to defeat the Bulldogs. The Colts plan on being 2-2 after their next game. 

Even after the tough loss, the girls still aim to repeat last year’s success in the playoffs and make a run at state with their elite offense. As the season continues the Lady Colts main goal is to make a run in the playoffs and do their best and win.
