This school year, the SGA has done various service projects to give to the community. Last Monday December, 28th the students in the SGA class took a field trip to Walmart to buy things for the Ronald McDonald House and the special needs students here at Cape Fear.
The Ronald McDonald House is a place where families who have a child in the hospital can stay and feel at home while facing such a hard time. While there they are provided with home cooked meals and a comforting place to stay.
SGA has been collecting items from students and bought lots of items that are commonly used by those who stay at the Ronald McDonald House. Some examples of items needed are individually wrapped food items, plastic utensils, Clorox/Lysol wipes, and paper plates.
Every week the SGA students go to adaptive PE with the special needs students here at Cape Fear. This creates great relationships between these students. This past fall the SGA went trick or treating around the school with the students and had a great time.
This year Coach Callahan is hosting a winter carnival for the special needs students. On our field trip to Walmart we bought tons prizes for the carnival and gifts to give these students during their class Christmas party. The SGA made shoe boxes that have all their presents inside them. The students are so excited for their party and SGA is even more excited to give them their gifts.
This year has been a great year for the SGA, we have raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and have received so many donations for the Ronald McDonald House.
