Promising Newcomers
There are many promising newcomers this season, first Tyler Buckley 12th grade, who will primarily run bases for pitchers and catchers. Nate West 12th grader who will be an all around utility player for Cape fear. Cole McCorquodale 11th grader who is another utility player for Cape fear. Ben Martinez is a freshman on varsity who is a catcher. Evan Bunce is a sophomore who is our starting center fielder.
Coach and returning starters
The team is led by head coach Jarrod Britt with some solid returners, Mason Hughes 11th grade, SS committed to Charleston Southern. Lucca Pascarella, 11th grade Catcher, Caden Jeffery 10th grade pitcher and 1st Baseman.
Players to watch
There are many great players to watch this year, beginning with Mason Hughes. He was a standout player last year and led the team in hits with a .403 batting average. Unfortunately, his 21-22 campaign was cut short due to injury. He’s back in action and he’s definitely a player to watch this season. Caden Jeffery burst onto the scene turning heads as a freshman, eventually becoming the Friday night starter for the Colts. Lucca Pascarella returns behind the plate for the Colts, his batting average was a .240 last year and he is going to keep showing great skills in the box. These players are definitely the ones to watch this baseball season.
Quote from Coach Jarrod Britt
What does the team need to have success? Coach Britt says, “We need wins and to do that we have to have good team chemistry. The team needs to keep a good attitude throughout the season and pitchers need to throw a lot of strikes”.
