Last season record
Led by Head coach Bryan Pagon, our girls soccer team finished with a 12-0-2 conference record; finishing first in the United 8 Conference with an overall record of 14-4-2. The team made it to the second round of playoffs but unfortunately fell 2-5 to Orange High School from Hillsboro.
Returning starters
There are some very key players returning this season. Our star forward Jayda Angel is one of these players. As a Sophomore, Angel was a very dominant competitor who could get past any opponent. She is set to have an even better campaign this season. Seniors Hannah Walker and Kylie Brown, Juniors Kayia Starling, Meredith Wenthur and Jayda Angel, and Sophomores Mary Catherine Shook, Grace Sherbert, Andi Brinker, Caroline Hales, and Mallory Cavey are other notable players returning this season.
Promising Newcomers
Although the team had to say goodbye to only a few seniors this season there are a few newcomers who show plenty of potential. Star Volleyball player Brooke Bompatepe is one of those players; she brings enough skill to the field to make a huge impact for the Colts this season. Freshman Hannah McGill is another young talent that gives the team hopes of a promising future. McGill is a great defensive player, is very aggressive, and knows the game very well. Keep an eye out for these two because they are sure to make an impact on the pitch.
Outlook for the Season
“We’ve lost some key players from last season, but I’m excited about our potential this year. We’ve added some younger girls, and we have a hungry group that’s focused and looking forward to the challenges ahead. If we stay healthy we can compete for another conference championship this season,” said Coach Bryan Pagan. “Our key returners are Jayda Angel, Andi Brinker, Meredith Wenthur, Caroline Hales, Kylie Brown, Mary Catherine Shook, Kayia Starling and Hannah Walker. Our promising newcomers are Hannah McGill and Brooke Bompatepe.”
The Colts girls soccer team looks extremely strong this season and shows promise of going even farther in the playoffs this year. So come out and support the Colts this season!
