The Cape Fear girls soccer team kicked things into gear last night. After a 1-3 start in the season the girls began conference play taking on the Lumberton Pirates.
The Colts started the scoring early and often, winning easily 7-0. Goals were scored by the hustle of Jayda Angel and Hannah Walker.
“Our increase in communication and the way we worked together as a team led us to success,” said Senior Forward Hannah Walker.
Walker earned herself a hat trick against the Pirates, chipping in three goals for the Colts.
Junior Forward Jayda Angel was named player of the game after scoring 4 goals. This was Angel’s first official match since coming off the basketball team’s historic playoff run. They made the East regional finals for the first time.
“It wasn’t a big change considering I love both sports. Basketball has always been my sport, but soccer is the sport I would always enjoy playing,” said Angel.
The Lady Colts hope to take another win against Purnell Swett on Friday the 17th at home. The girls are hoping to string together some conference victories to get the ball rolling in their favor. Come out and support!
