This week, the Lady Colts tennis team dominated the competition, winning all three matches handley. The girls took on Jack Britt, South View, and Pine Forest, resulting in 8-1, 8-1, and 9-0.
On Tuesday against the Jack Britt Buccaneers, Shea Bieniek (sr) and Brianna Keen (sr) both made their opponents walk the plank with 6-0 6-1 scores. Andi Brinker (sr) fiercely defeated her opponent 6-3 6-0. Dani Fick (jr) didn’t mess around that evening, locking in a 6-1 6-2 score. Olivia Arnette (sr) strongly defended her fifth court 6-2 6-4. Sophia Bullard (jr) played a hard match, but unfortunately lost 1-6 3-6. As for doubles, Bieniek and Keen won 8-1, Brinker and Arnette won 8-1, and Fick and Bullard won 8-2.
On Wednesday, the Colts played the South View Tigers. Needless to say, the eye of the tiger was blinded. Bieniek was quick to beat her opponent 6-0 6-0. Keen won her match 6-1 6-0, Fick was the boss winning 6-1 6-1, and Arnette battled, pulling out the win after a nail biting second set tiebreaker, resulting in 6-1 7-6. Bullard also had to fight for her win, succeeding in a third set tiebreak, making the scores overall 4-6 6-4 10-5. Alissa Fulghum (so) unfortunately lost in a tiebreak on court six, 7-5 4-6 10-4. In doubles, Bieniek and Brinker won 8-0, Keen and Arnette were winning 4-0 before one of their opponents got injured and retired the match, and lastly Fick and Bullard pulled out the win 8-3.
On Thursday, the ladies defeated the Pine Forest Trojans handedly. Bieniek put her opponent out of her misery, with a 6-1 6-1 score. Brinker won 6-1 6-0. Keen also won 6-1 6-1, Fick defeated her opponent 6-4 6-0, the birthday girl Olivia Arnette walked away with a dub 6-0 6-1, and Bullard won 6-4 6-3. All across the board are wins for the Cape Fear Lady Colts! Doubles were fierce, with court one (Bieniek and Brinker) easily winning 8-1. Court two (Keen and Fick) volleyed their way to their 8-1 win. Court three (Arnette and Bullard) battled it out, winning 9-7.
Another winning week to put in the books, great job ladies! The girls now hold a record of 9-1, with a nine game win streak. Next week, your Lady Colts will take on Grays Creek, Lumberton, and Overhills all on the home courts! Come on out and support your women’s tennis team!
