On Monday, October 6th, Cape Fear Girls Golf hosted their final home match. The girls celebrated senior night and held a few emotional moments. This was a big mark for them as they come to the end of their last season.
We recognize these girls and the remarkable impact they’ve had on the team. Cape Fear shot a 281 and finished 2nd place overall, following right behind Purnell Swett who shot a 279. The Lady Colts fought hard and came very close to the top.
Besides the humidity, it was a beautiful day for golf. The girls were able to push through for their team and managed to keep up on the course.
Cape Fear’s top 3 girls were Freshman Sarah Eavenson, who also placed 3rd overall shooting a 89, right behind her was Freshman Laloni Pyles with a 92, and Junior Saylor Drose with a 100.
“Yesterday was fun although it was long and I couldn’t putt to save anything. I had a good time, so happy for our team with 2nd place again and so sad to see the seniors go! Can’t wait for our last conference match of the season next week,” said Sarah Eavenson.

Seniors Nadia Thompson and Ana Warchal had a very wholesome day. Congratulations to everything that these seniors have achieved this season. As they leave behind their team, we hope for a bright future ahead!
“Wrapping up yesterday’s match was such a bittersweet feeling, these past two seasons I’ve made some amazing friends and memories I’ll never forget. I love having a good group of girls around me that I can count on especially when golf gets stressful. Our assistant coach from last year stepped up to be the head coach and he’s definitely made some great improvements within the team and I know they’ll do great things in the future,” said Nadia Thompson.
“Yesterday’s match was definitely bittersweet. This season has been full of laughs, tears, and so much success. I’m so thankful for the amazing friends I’ve made through golf. I couldn’t imagine not playing these past two years. With all the pressure people put on you it’s good to have a group of people that you can talk to and always count on,” exclaimed Ana Warchal.
We can’t wait to see what all these girls will accomplish after high school! We’re so proud of them and they will be greatly missed.
Next Monday, the girls will travel to Pinecrest. We’re certain they will face the course with ease! Come out and support the Lady Colts at their final conference match!
