How can you become an upstanding student? This week, Ashley Rachel shows us how to be not only a great student but also a positive influence on the people around us. As a senior at Cape Fear High School, Ashley has made a strong impression through her academics, extracurricular activities, leadership, and kindness toward others.

Ashley’s teachers and friends have nothing but positive things to say about her. She is a hardworking and dependable student who is always willing to help the people around her. Whether she is offering advice, sharing her notes, helping a classmate understand an assignment, or simply listening to someone who needs to talk, Ashley is someone others can count on.

 “Honestly this has probably been my favorite year, mainly because it’s really mellow and chill,” said Rachel.

Her dedication goes beyond academics. Ashley participates in extracurricular activities and volunteers her time to help others. She understands that being a successful student is not only about earning good grades but also about contributing to the school community. Her positive attitude and determination encourage those around her to work hard and strive for their best.

Another quality that makes Ashley stand out is her charismatic and approachable personality. She naturally attracts people because she is easy to talk to and makes others feel comfortable. Although she has a small group of close friends that she spends time with both inside and outside of school, she is also someone many students can approach for advice or conversation.

Ashley’s friends appreciate her loyalty, kindness, and sense of humor. She often organizes group study sessions and social gatherings, helping bring people together and strengthen friendships. Even students outside of her immediate friend group admire her willingness to include others. Ashley makes an effort to ensure that people around her feel welcome and valued.

Ashley is also an active member of the marching band at Cape Fear High School. She is part of the percussion section and serves as the drum captain. This leadership position requires responsibility, commitment, and the ability to work well with others. Ashley demonstrates these qualities by helping her section and making sure everyone is prepared.

Ashley has been playing instruments since eighth grade and has been part of the drum line for three years. During that time, she has gained experience not only as a musician but also as a leader. Because she is one of the older and more experienced members of the group, she understands what needs to be done and helps make sure things stay organized.

Her band teacher, Mr. Jorganson, had nothing but positive things to say about Ashley and her dedication to the band. He explained that she attends the meetings and concerts she needs to and consistently goes above and beyond to support the program. Mr. Jorganson stated, “She’s wonderful and attends everything she needs to.”

Mr. Jorganson also discussed Ashley’s role as one of the more experienced members of the percussion section. “Since she’s one of the older and more experienced veterans in the group, she tends to know what goes on and what needs to be done,” he stated. Her experience allows her to help guide younger members and contribute to the success of the drum line.

Ashley’s success is not limited to extracurricular activities. She has also challenged herself academically by taking college-level classes while still in high school. She is currently taking Pre-Calculus, Algebra, and English one   her college coursework. Balancing these classes with band, friendships, and other responsibilities requires strong time-management skills and dedication.

Looking toward the future, Ashley plans to attend college and major in computer science. She has a strong interest in technology and game development and hopes to eventually work for a game development studio. Her interest in this field shows that she is already thinking about how her passions can become part of her future career.

As Ashley continues through her senior year, she says that things are going well as she begins preparing for adulthood. Senior year is an important period for students because it marks the transition from high school into the next stage of life. For Ashley, this transition is an opportunity to continue learning, growing, and preparing for her future.

Overall, Ashley Rachel demonstrates what it means to be an upstanding student. She works hard in her classes, participates in extracurricular activities, takes on leadership responsibilities, and supports the people around her. More importantly, she treats others with kindness and respect.
