Last Tuesday, the Colts ran their own course at Cape Fear! They competed against Lumberton Senior, Purnell Swett, Terry Sanford, and Gray’s Creek. The Boys continued their undefeated season, finishing 1st with 34 points, and girls came in second with 57 points. Both teams put in a great effort and represented our school.

The Boys team started the meet strong with Chris Shick coming in second with a time of 16:44.76. Collin Shick was third with 17:21.08. Maximus Mello was 8th with a time of 18:42.70, Matthew Mello and Brayden Luchetta followed closely behind. Their strong performances secured another victory and showed great teamwork.

“This win reflects the work these boys put in everyday, they trusted the training, pushed one another, and completed as a team. Seeing that effort result in another 1st place finish makes me incredibly proud,” Mrs. Demchock, one of the cross country coaches.

The girls were up next. Kelci Glunt finished 5th with a time of 23:55.84, Shaddai Martell was 6th with a time of 24:17.29. Ayonna Smith, Lacey Bullard, and Bayani Cunanan also competed and all together they earned a 2nd-place team finish!

“I didn’t find it too difficult as I’ve been running track since I was in 6th grade and cross country is allowing me to get into other sports that I do, like basketball and soccer,” said Kelci Glunt.

With another successful meet at home, the Colts are showing that their hard work and dedication to the sport is paying off. Both teams will continue to carry this momentum into their next races at Hagan Stone on October 3rd and Lumberton on October 8th, come out and support our fellow colts!
